Life-size 3D graphics of the players and game characters

Online gaming, in particular, has exploded and given rise to eSPORTS where teams of gamers compete against each other in leagues and tournaments that are broadcast online to audiences of thousands. Studios around the world bring gamers, analysts, and fans together to enjoy the frenzy of such competitions.

OGN (formerly known as Ongamenet), a South Korean television Channel hosted major gaming events held in Seoul using WASP3D’s Virtual Augmented reality (AR). The audience could see life-size 3D graphics of the players and game characters at the two seasons of OGN Overwatch, LOL Champion Korea Spring Split, and Intel APEX Overwatch championships. These stunning visuals and graphics were delivered with the WASP3D engine and StYpe camera tracking system.

The process involved WASP3D on-air graphics to be integrated inside an augmented reality solution which further helped OGN, enrich production value and execute lively AR presentations. The Virtual Augmented Graphics platform used tracking data from the camera to map the stadium space with computer-generated 3D content during the live games. The Gamers could develop Team profiles and player profiles, check on game progress and achievements, formed groups for clans to chat with multiple gamers simultaneously.
